Lexus LC 500:
An exercise in soft power

The 2025 Lexus LC is a striking grand tourer that prioritizes luxury, design, and comfort as much as raw performance. Available in coupe, convertible, and hybrid variants, the LC offers a 471-hp 5.0-liter V8 or a 354-hp V6 hybrid. Both powertrains are quick-0-60 mph in 4.6 to 4.7 seconds-though the V8 delivers a throaty, more visceral driving experience. The LC, like all Lexus vehicles, wields its power with more subtlety than its euro competitors, with a refined ride, balanced handling, and a distinctly Japanese character. The 2025 model sees minimal design changes beyond a new "Iridium" paint color and some new options to the Bespoke Build customization options.

Inside, the LC features the standard Lexus high-end cabin with premium materials abundant in a well considered, stylish design. The coupe offers 5 cubic feet of trunk space, while the convertible drops that to a cute 3 cubic feet, more than enough for an overnight bag.  Standard safety features include forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. Fuel economy is surprisingly robust: the V8 gets up to 25 mpg highway, while the hybrid reaches 33 mpg.

Built for highway cruising, the LC excels as a luxurious, head-turning coupe (or convertible) with the futuristic lines of a concept car and the comfort of a true GT.

Porsche GT3 RS:
Experts Only Need Apply

The 2025 Porsche 911 GT3 RS represents the pinnacle of track-ready performance in the 911 lineup. Building on the already ferocious GT3, the RS version gets a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine tuned to 518 horsepower, revving to a sky-high 9000 rpm. It rockets from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and completes the quarter mile in 10.9 seconds. This model incorporates radical aerodynamic upgrades, including a massive rear wing with a Formula 1-style drag reduction system, contributing to astonishing downforce and a staggering 1.16 g of cornering grip.

Unlike the standard GT3, the RS stiffens its suspension even further for uncompromising track precision.  Active anti-roll bars, adaptive dampers, and sticky Michelin Cup tires combine to make it feel like a street-legal race car, which it truly is. Inside, it features additional steering wheel controls to fine-tune damper settings and optional track-focused seating with helmet clearance and integrated airbags.

Porsche also adds subtle tech updates for 2026, such as faster infotainment, Alexa integration, and Dolby Atmos sound. While daily drivability isn't the RS's mission, it's the most extreme, purpose-built GT3 ever made-blurring the line between road car and race car.

Perky and quick,  the BRZ impresses with sharp steering, a well-balanced chassis, and a communicative driving experience that makes it a joy to toss around corners. The TS trim offers enhanced suspension tuning and upgraded brakes for even sharper handling.

Though technically a 2+2, the rear seats are best suited for cargo-especially when folded flat, allowing space for items like a full set of track tires. The BRZ's interior design is driver-centric, featuring a digital gauge cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and supportive, bolstered front seats. Fuel economy is decent, with the automatic returning up to 30 mpg highway. As standard for Subaru all trim levels include Subaru's EyeSight safety suite.

Toyota Supra:
Truly Superlative

Toyota's Supra has been the brand's performance option since the 1980's and the latest iteration of the esteemed sports car amply carries forward that legacy. The 2026 Toyota GR Supra's rear-wheel-drive is powered by a 382-hp turbocharged inline-six engine, mated to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Honda Civic Type R:
A city car with plenty of zoom

The 2025 Honda Civic Type R remains the hippest vehicle in the entire Honda fleet and it continues to impress with its thrilling performance, refined handling, and everyday usability. First officially introduced to the U.S. in 2017, the latest generation debuted in 2023 with more subdued styling but sharper performance. Its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder now produces 315 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. The Type R's 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds and a 1.02 g skidpad grip are common to cars costing much more. Upgrades like improved cooling, a lighter flywheel, and revised exhaust tuning enhance the Civic's already impressive performance. A dual-axis strut suspension helps eliminate torque steer, making the front-wheel-drive layout remarkably composed under power.

Despite its track-ready capabilities, the Civic Type R functions well as a daily driver. Its interior features sporty red accents, comfortable racing seats, and practical hatchback utility. Fuel economy is solid for its class-EPA-rated at 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, with real-world results reaching 30 mpg.

Standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and advanced safety features come as standard as with most Honda vehicles.

Kia K4 Hatchback:
The Sporty Alternative

The 2026 Kia K4 hatchback debuts as a practical and stylish alternative to the K4 sedan. With a hatchback rather than a trunk, this iteration is about 11 inches shorter than the sedan, making the hatchback a bit sportier looking and roomier for passengers and cargo. Under the hood the K4 hatch features the same engine options: a 147-hp 2.0-liter inline-four with a CVT or a 190-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four with an eight-speed automatic.

While the K4 hatchback will likely mirror the trim levels of the sedan, for inclusion in this list only  GT-Line and GT-Line Turbo versions are considered.  The GT line offers sporty design cues and unique suspension tuning that give the K4 plenty of grip.  Standard tech includes a 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a digital gauge cluster.

Driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist will be standard. The K4 hatchback is a great looking affordable sport wagon for the first time buyer.
