Kia Sorento

Kia's SUV line up is expansive, with three separate models offering 3rd row seating. But the midsized Sorento is the most versatile choice among Kia's other 3rd row offerings, the Telluride and electric EV9. With a stylish design and practical cabin for each of its 8 trim levels, not including hybrid models, the Sorento is customizable to your needs. The entry-level trim is packed with features like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and copious driver-assistance and safety technologies. The base power plant is a non-turbo four-cylinder engine with optional all-wheel drive. For those seeking more power and off road capabilities, a 281-hp turbocharged four-cylinder mated to Kia's torque-vectoring AWD is available starting with the rugged X-Line trim. While the Sorento's third row is a bit less spacious than that of the Telluride and its towing capacity maxes out at 4,000 pounds, it's the perfect SUV for outdoor types who only need occasional third-row seating and don't require heavy-duty towing.

Inside, the Sorento features quality materials and an understated design, with serene ambient lighting and ample storage throughout. Its second row can be configured with captain's chairs for added comfort. Cargo space is more than adequate with the third row stowed. Perfect for young couples or even new families, the Sorento is a stylish, sensible SUV to get you safely to your happy place.

Porsche Cayenne

Porsche launched the "Sports Car meets SUV" segment with the Cayenne's initial launch in 2002. For 2025 the Porsche Cayenne sets a new benchmark for driving enjoyment in a luxury crossover. This mid-size, two-row SUV has 13 distinct models under the Cayenne badge. Buyers can choose between several different powertrains, including turbocharged V6, twin-turbo V8, and plug-in hybrid options, ensuring an athletic driving experience and precise handling that is rare among SUVs. Horsepower ranges from 348hp for the base Cayenne to an eye-watering 728hp for the Turbo Hybrid. All are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The Cayenne has a lux interior with a spacious cargo area and a suite of safety features like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control and optional night vision. Despite its size, the Cayenne handles gracefully, supported by adaptive dampers, adjustable air suspension, and active anti-roll bars. Overall, the Cayenne delivers a comfortable yet sporty driving experience, making it a compelling choice in its class. Once you're off-road and on the trail, the Porsche Active Suspension Management system adjusts the suspension for the best control for every surface. The adaptable suspension also allows for greater ground clearance and rear axle steering to better get over and around those obstacles.  The Sierra Mountains might not be the Black Forest and the 5 freeway the autobahn, but with Beethoven's 5th on the stereo announcing your entrance to Sequoia, you won't notice the difference.

Toyota 4Runner

Toyota's 4Runner, first launched in 1984, can be considered one of the foundational vehicles of the modern SUV segment. Toyota, whose brand is built on the ideal of no frills reliability, still builds the 4Runner with a body on frame construction that is increasingly rare. All trim levels of the 4Runner are powered by 4.0-liter V6 engine paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The 4Runner retains its decidedly truck-like feel both on the road and on the trail, where its performance really shines. The 4Runner has a competitive towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Inside, the 4Runner's cabin maintains its logical, thoughtful design with plenty of storage and an easy to navigate infotainment system, featuring an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
